The Plucksters - Tim Lathan-guitars and vocals, Dennis Unterreiner-acoustic guitar and vocals, Greg DeWeese-drums, and Jerry Unterreiner-bass
The Plucksters began their amalgamation in January of 2012. Jerry and Dennis had played together for fun and as a hobby sporadically through the years, and Jerry finally told his brother Dennis they ought to get together and record some songs. Dennis informed a fellow who worked with him, Tim, about the project and Tim said he would be happy to sit in with the brothers. Little did Jerry know that Tim was an unbelievably great guitar player. Tim in turn had a good friend, Greg, who happened to be an incredible drummer. Presto! The Plucksters were formed!
All lyrics and music are by The Plucksters. We thank Levi Creek (drums on Desert Song and Raised on Rock and Roll), Caleb Hoffman (vocals on Learning the Hard Way), Cheri U. for a timely whistle, and Eric Benge (cd design). The Plucksters are: Tim Lathan-electric guitars, vocals on Raised on Rock and Roll, Through The Night, and Ain't Going Back No More, and acoustic guitar on Through The Night; Dennis Unterreiner-acoustic guitars, and vocals on The Flow, Another Sunrise, Desert Song, Pangaea, Walk With Me, and Topaz; Greg DeWeese-drums; and Jerry Unterreiner-bass.
Why The Plucksters? Good question. The name is really just a tribute to a very close friend who left us recently. He was in a garage band informally called the Plucksters and got quite a kick out of it. The word has various jargon usage but the idea for it here came from a BBC guitar instruction show. Plucking refers to playing or pulling the strings directly with the fingertips, fingernails, or picks attached to fingers, instead of striking with a pick (which is called a plectrum in England). The Plucksters actually did very little plucking on the cd, as everyone almost always used a plectrum. Ha!
The videos "Walk With Me" and "Pangaea" were produced and directed by our good friend and design artist Eric Benge. The theme of the "Walk With Me" video centers around three dreams. Josh first dreams of a red dress. Then he sees a beautiful lady, Bianca (also a professional photographer-see Photos thank you!), in the red dress. Josh then dreams of a flat tire. Lastly, Josh dreams of a lost dog. Dreams can come true! Take a look-see on the "Walk With Me" video page or view it on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXmspBc2llM. The video "Pangaea" also has its own page and is on YouTube. Wow! You have to see it. Thanks Eric!
The Plucksters have released a couple of singles since their cd debut; A Child Has Been Born (November 2013), and A Moment of Grace (March 2016). Wesley was a guest gunslinger (lead guitar) on a Moment of Grace. A couple of lovely ladies, Sybil and Cher, performed the backup vocals on A Moment of Grace. You are the best!
Cheers!
